In recent weeks I have spent time watching and working with the Professionals who are playing on the HI5 PRO Tour here in Spain. It has made me even more aware now than before about having Golf Clubs Custom Built to suit your swing.

Having altered several clubs, whether it was a new grip with an extra layer of tape under the grip or grinding some bounce off a wedge or shortening a putter, these are all things you do not get when you buy a set of Clubs from the shelf.

I have been speaking to Adam Mason who plays on the Europro tour and in England and who has played with custom fitted Mizuno irons all his of his golfing career. However, now he has been to see a golf club maker who works with Tour players and now has a set of Bridgestone irons custom built for him. He did say they are taking some time to get used to but he can see the benefits only after one month. Adam said he is a good player but his custom fitted clubs were not good enough and he needed some irons to suit him and that is why he sought the advice of the club maker.

The myth about custom built golf clubs is false - yes they do cost money but not as much as a new set of 2009 clubs from a major manufacturer. For example, a set of custom built clubs can cost as low as 400 Euros with the heads supplied by the Golfworks and Golfsmiths compared to up to 130 Euros each for a big named iron, also the fact is that if you have any problems with any clubs I have built, I can sort them out then and there without having to send them back to the manufacturer and waiting possibly weeks to get them back.
