Many women I know would pay to see a man having a full body wax and it would appear that many did in Pinar de Campoverde by sponsoring George, barman at PJ’s Bar to be the volunteer to do just that on behalf of the Paul Cunningham Nurses.Sponsor forms had been left in local bars and businesses around the village of Campoverde in the lead up to the main event which was held on Saturday 12th December at PJ’s Bar hosted by Danny and Kerry.
Representatives of the Charity were present to witness the evening’s events which included a “name the teddy” competition, a tasty buffet, karaoke provided by Jay and, of course, the main event of the night, George’s full body wax! Beauty Therapist Sue set to work on George who, disappointingly, didn’t seem to flinch as the warm wax was torn from his body along with all of his bodily hair including, eventually, his eyebrows! This may have been due to anaesthetic effect of the Guinness George had been drinking beforehand for Dutch courage, although I was always told it put hairs on your chest, not help remove them!
Later on in the evening, once the teddy had been named, which incidentally was “Twinkle”, it was announced that so far, in excess of €400 had been raised by PJ’s Bar on the evening, although an exact sum, hoped to be higher than that, will be confirmed once all of the donations have been collected in and counted.
This was a fabulous charity event for a fantastic cause with great hospitality provided by Kerry and Danny, who would like to thank everybody for their donations, local bars and businesses for collecting the sponsors and everyone who assisted in making this evening a success.
