The members of the Garden Club turned out in force for the Dec meeting, carrying a wide selection of ‘goodies’ for afternoon tea. Quizmaster Ian had prepared a four part quiz comprising of a photo page of celebrity gardeners, a music section related to gardening, anagrams of flowers, and an old Mastermind gardeners’ quiz. Teams of six were hastily grouped and everyone put on their thinking caps while tucking into the food. Val, the chairman had chosen bottles of wine for the winning team, and seasonal poinsettias and cyclamen for the raffle prizes.
The February meeting will be on Monday 1st Feb at “The Venue” on the Lemon Tree Road from 2-4pm when the speaker will be PETER GREEN a volunteer at the La Mata Natural Park in Torrevieja. He will give an illustrated talk on the invasive and alien species of plants now growing around the salt lakes. He will explain what volunteers and staff are doing to address the problems and there will be plenty of time to ask him any relevant questions.
